My friend Tanner made a quick comment today saying he’d like to see Turner’s numbers with and without MCW. Reason being, Turner’s game has resembled doo-doo these last four games. Turner has turned back into that rotten pumpkin many thought he was before this season. Unrelated, the picture above is my favorite Sixers photo of the season. I’m guessing it was taken right after Jason Maxiell crop dusted the court.
Here’s Turner stat line over the last four game followed by his numbers for the first 23 games. Spoiler alert, the last four have not been pretty.

So what’s happened to Evan? Whether it’s related to MCW’s presence or not I’m not sure, but Turner has gotten away from what was making him an efficient scorer, driving to the basket and finishing. And since he has settled for more jumpers his number of trips to the free throw line have suffered, having shot from the line four times over the last four games. He’s still making 62.4% of his shots on drives, but for whatever reason he’s settled for jumpers these last four games. Here are his last four shot charts.
From the charts above you can see when Turner does attempt a shot from the paint it’s usually a success. Last night might have been Evan’s worst of the year. Besides shooting 6 -16 on the night with zero trips to the free throw line, Turner also turned the ball over 9 times. If you have a minute click on the link to see all his shot attempts on the night. You’ll get a sense of his evening in case you missed it last night.
My advice, keep driving Evan even though you do have your shot blocked more than anyone else in the league. A majority of the time good things happen when you go to the basket. Or just beg Sam Hinkie to give up the cure to the bizarre skin infection that is keeping Michael Carter-Williams out for now.
